No trick-or-treaters

We never have trick-or-treaters back here deep in the dark woods.  It's a long.....road through the dark woods lined with tall trees and branches that peek out; a road like going to the unknown.  The signs read "No trespassing" and "Dogs on Property".  Sadly, the candy will just stay here.  I wonder who might want to eat it.. ummm?

I still decorate the house up for us and any friends who do happen to drop by.  The girls came over for dinner last night, so I strung up all the orange Halloween lights on all the decks.  They really pop out in the Halloween darkness.  We do lock the gate, especially on Halloween.  No pranks, please!

But, once you leave the darkness and enter through the gate, it does open up and you do find our home.  I always try to get Mr. W to leave and go off on adventure with me this time of year, but he likes to stay and build his man fire at the pit, have a few guy friends over for a few beers, and talk the talk.

Gracie, our little pumpkin.  A real goblin-getter!

  1. I'm sure Gracie wouldn't let any Goblins get passed her...what a little cutie!

  2. Sounds like your Shangri-la is a treat or maybe a (re)treat! Love those Jacks!

  3. I love your private place. We were talking yesterday about how many we've had trick or treating over the 38 years we've lived here, and maybe we've had 5-10. Our street is not conducive to that kind of activity, especially now that it is a busy 5 lane road. We are all hedged in and keep our gates locked too. Oh Gracie is a real guard dog I'm sure, wagging her tail and wanting to be everyone's friend. :-) We've had two dogs like that. Although, they will let you know if something isn't right in their territory.

    Enjoy your week ~ FlowerLady

  4. Us too, we live kind of remote on the side of a mountain so only have the 8 kids that live out our way to trick or treat. This year we actually went into town to help pass out treats at our daughter's house...it was fun!

  5. It sounds like your entrance is a perfect back-drop for a scary movie. I can understand why kids wouldn't want to trespass down that driveway!

We didn't have any visitors, either. Even though we turned on the lights AND finally installed our door bell! Oh well, we weren't really thinking anyone would come. I get to eat all the Tootsie-Pops! Yum!

  6. So nice to have a home that is somewhat hidden from view. Ours sits back from the road but the front yard has few trees so it's very visible from the road. We don't get trick or treaters either... no street lights. :-( It's dark out here in the boon docks!
